The Hands Of Time…

My uncle once told me this….

I won’t quote him exactly how he said it because he told me this nugget of wisdom in my native language.

But it goes a little something like this…

To keep it simple and easily understood, let’s hypothetically say that in your lifetime you have around 100 years to live from the day you were born.

If you’re in your quarter life stages like I am, then by this theory, you only have about 75 years left of your life!

Now let’s do a bit of math here and break it down:

There’s 24 hours in a day. On average, you’re asleep for about ~7 hours a day. That leaves you with roughly 17 hours left of your daily awake time.

Now if you subtract that ~17 hours by your daily routine of eating, going to the restroom, napping, running errands, etc. It may leave you more or less about 12 hours left of your day to actually do things outside the scope of your normal routine.

With 12 hours of real potential activity in a day, most people have a standard 8 hour job. So that already cuts into majority of the # of hours per day you have left for your personal pursuits or interests.

Now let’s say from this analogy, the person doesn’t have a job.

So with a hypothetical calculation of about 12 hours available in each day left & there’s 365 days in a year…

365 x 12 = 4380 hours = 262,800 minutes = 15,768,000 seconds

You have roughly 4380 hours a year to do what you want to do.

Multiply that by the remaining ~75 years…

You have about 328,500 hours of your life left ( of course, you can do the math for your own age… ) aside from half the time you’ll spent sleeping & doing daily activities, which we’ll indicate it as: ‘[A+Z]’

*…Beep boop beep boop beep… Calculation processing…*

328,500 hours + ( 328,500 [A+Z] )

328,500 hours x 60 minutes

= 19,710,000 minutes + ( 19,710,000 [A+Z] )

19,710,000 minutes x 60 seconds

= 1,182,600,000 seconds + ( 1,182,600,000 [A+Z] )

Now imagine seeing your life counting down every second remaining…

As everyday passes by.. exactly 86,400 seconds of your life is passing.

Imagine that.

Time is precious ain’t it? It doesn’t stop for anyone.

Moral of this story? Well, that’s for you to decide. It’s your life. Make every moment count. Ups and downs will always exist in your life. There will always be circumstances that you simply cannot change, but what you can change is your mindset and perspective on your situations. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. Just live and let live.

Most of all — focus on what’s important. Love the people who love you, understand you for who you are, and who you are aspired to become. Because it’d be a shame to ignore the ones who truly care for you, while you’re dying to get the attention of those who could care less.

Spend your time wisely. Life is too valuable to wait for the right moment to go for what you want. Time is too precious to waste it on those who simply don’t matter. Trust your decisions. Live with it and love it.
